Events- GSPCB launches Environmental Engineering MTech course with BITS Pilani

The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) recently announced that it will launch an MTech programme in Environmental Engineering for officials of the board. The two-year programme will be conducted by the Goa campus of BITS Pilani. A total of 25 officials, all degree engineers and MSc holders at GSPCB will be a part of
this programme.Chairman of GSPCB Jose Manuel Noronha said, “New technology is constantly being developed and the members of GSPCB need to be updated on this. The training under this programme will help us tackle problems in air and water pollution.” Prof K E Raman, senior administrator at BITS Pilani added, “We have around 20,000 professionals enrolled in programmes around the country that help them upgrade theirprofessional skills, specifically to the industry they are in. Programmes like this are only for professionals. When the chairman approached us for this course, we did a lot of groundwork to get this programme in place.” Dr G Sundar, Director of the
programme at BITS, pointed out, “Programmes like this are the only way the country can meet the growing requirements and the challenges of the future. We treat participants as full-time professionals and full-time students, and they are trained in an area closely related to the field that they are working in.”
